Jeannette introduced Duffy to Suede's ex-guitarist Bernard Butler, with whom she wrote 'Rockferry', the title track of her debut album. 'The moment I started to feel good about myself the songs started to come,' she says. They spent three years honing her sound, and in 2007 a deal was signed with A&M Records and hers is the voice of 2008. It took me an hour each way to drive to this interview and I heard snippets of her songs no less that nine times on the car radio as I flicked between stations. Duffy is part little girl and part exhausted soul.
