1 Down, 51 To Go "Marvel Zombies: Dead Days" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

The seventh year of my 52 Books, 52 Weeks project is again sponsored (for the sixth year) by my favorite bookstore in the world, Baltimore's Atomic Books. One of my goals this year is to read more superhero comics and graphic novels, having avoided the genre in the past. Any recommendations (superhero, graphic novel, or other books) are always greatly appreciated.

Marvel Zombies: Dead Days is broken into four parts. In the first, the zombie infection of the Marvel universe is explained, and this is the high point of the collection. Spiderman as a zombie is definitely a new twist, and is only the introduction to this fascinating book. The middle two storylines involve the Ultimate Fantastic Four, and a Black Panther story makes up a slightly disappointing final section.

How much did I enjoy this book? Upon finishing, I ordered all the other available Marvel Zombie collections, and ran to a local comic book store to find some individual issues in the series. I was impressed by the crisp artwork and the obvious fun the writers had putting these comics together.

My next book is Mycelium Running, by Paul Stamets.
