August 1, 2009
Every year, I am exposed to at least one writer whose book fascinates me so deeply that I am instantly moved to read his or her entire back catalog. A couple of years ago it was Brian Evenson, last year Rudy Wurlitzer.
This year two novels have impressed me enough to buy everything the authors have published: Jonathan Tropper's dysfunctional family tale This Is Where I Leave You and Victor LaValle's incredibly clever comic novel, Big Machine. I will save my short reviews for the authors' Book Notes music playlists on this blog (to be published later this month), but can definitely recommend any work by either of these talented authors.
To enter the contest, leave a comment in this post with the name of your favorite novel.
