October 10, 2009
For the first time in my life, this year I have found myself giving away books almost immediately after I am through reading them, especially the books I loved. One of the best books I have read all year is James Ellroy's novel Blood's a Rover, which concludes his Underworld USA trilogy (which also contains the excellent volumes American Tabloid and The Cold Six Thousand). Almost every 60's conspiracy theory comes to life in a dark tale featuring J. Edgar Hoover, Howard Hughes, Richard Nixon, Sal Mineo, and a bevy of pop culture references.
To enter the contest, leave a comment in this post with the name of the best book you have read in 2009.
Two will receive the following prizes:
Blood's a Rover, by James Ellroy
an assortment of books & CDs (probably including some of my own favorites of the year)
The winners will be chosen randomly at midnight CT Tuesday evening (October 21st).
