51 Down, 1 To Go "Cook Food" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

In Cook Food: A Manualfesto for Easy, Healthy, Local Eating, Lisa Jervis has skillfully combined two books to create her local food manifesto. In the first part of the book, she outlines her own food ethics and ideals, opening her own culinary history to all. She believes in whole grains and slow foods, just like me, and makes her arguments clearly and with conviction.

The second section of the book contains recipes that practice what Jervis preaches. The dishes are simple, but healthy and flavorful, and leave plenty of room for the home chef to experiment.

I have been recommending this book to friends for both the philosophy and the recipes, cookbooks that are entertaining and instructional are too rare.
