This Week's Interesting Music Releases (March 2, 2010)

The first week in March brings a relatively slim batch of new music releases.

If you are into soundtracks, Danny Elfman's score for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is out tomorrow, as well as Almost Alice, an album of songs inspired by the film from artists that range from Grace Potter to Robert Smith of the Cure.

Peter Gabriel releases a covers album, Scratch My Back, which includes his renditions of songs by the Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Neil Young, and others.

Japanther's Rock N Roll Ice Cream is another strong outing from the Brooklyn duo.

Of the albums I have already heard, I can also strongly recommend former Delgados singer Emma Pollock's The Law Of Large Numbers, Jaguar Love's Hologram Jams, Peasant's Shady Retreat, and The Ruby Suns' Fight Softly.

Shearwater's The Golden Archipelago is available on vinyl tomorrow, that's at the top of my shopping list.

What new music can you recommend this week? What's on your shopping list?
