The San Francisco Chronicle profiles the Morning Benders.

Thanks to his parents' record collection, Chu's childhood soundtrack was dominated by the Beatles and Beach Boys, their influence easily located in both the Benders' melodies and production style. NPR compared their layered harmonies to a summer breeze, iTunes highlighted their atmospheric homage to 50s "crooner-styled sentimentality" and 60s "pop optimism" and rarely does a review get printed without a mention of Brian Wilson or the Zombies. "The music I love and the music I write succeeds, in part, because of its use of nuance and subtlety," says Chu. It is this intense attention to detail that gives Chu an edge in the recording studio. "He has an open mind but a discerning ear," says Or. "He understands that a number of things might work in a given situation, but he's also aware that how these things are employed spells the difference between good music and great music."
