This Week's Interesting DVD Releases - June 15, 2010
Mystery Train, my favorite Jim Jarmusch film and his tribute to the city of Memphis, is released by the Criterion Collection tomorrow.
Other feature films out tomorrow include the claymation Mary and Max, the thriller Collapse, and the Michael Cera comedy Youth in Revolt.
Seth Macfarlane fans can pick up American Dad Vol. 5 and Family Guy, Vol. 8, but the first season of Cartoon Network's Johnny Bravo is at the top of my personal shopping list. The second season of Sanctuary is also out tomorrow.
Two documentaries look especially interesting this week. David Hockney: A Bigger Picture captures the legendary artist as he returns to his native England after 25 years in America, and Sex Positive profiles revolutionary AIDS activist Richard Berkowitz.
Blu-ray releases of note this week include a a 15th anniversary "sinsational" edition of Showgirls, Darkman, and Flash Gordon.
