26 Down, 26 To Go "Mary Mac's Tea Room: 65 Years of Recipes from Atlanta's Favorite Dining Room" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

A couple of years ago I visited Mary Mac's Tea Room, which used to be one of my favorite lunch spots when I lived in Atlanta. I had heard the restaurant was under new management and expected the worst. To my surprise, the food was still the fresh, great Southern cooking that made Mary Mac's famous, and the ambiance of the restaurant was as warm and charming as ever.

John Ferrell was handpicked by the original owner to purchase the restaurant in 1994, and continues to serve the Southern recipes Mary Mac's is known for. These recipes make up Mary Mac's Tea Room: 65 Years of Recipes from Atlanta's Favorite Dining Room. Be warned: his is not a health food cookbook (classic Southern cooking is rarely healthy), but if you are looking for tasty, easy to prepare, well-illustrated recipes that define the genteel South (from appetizers to desserts), then this book is for you.

My next book is Scott Pilgrim Volume 6: Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, by Bryan Lee O'Malley.
