This Week's Interesting DVD Releases - July 27, 2010
My wife will rejoice tomorrow when one of her favorite television series of her youth, 21 Jump Street: The Complete Series is in stores tomorrow.
Other television releases this week include Sabrina the Teenage Witch: The Final Season.
Among the week's theatrical film releases, I can most recommend Vincere, a film about Mussolini's lover that features a stunning performance by Giovanna Mezzogiorno.
The Criterion Collection releases Eclipse Series 22: Presenting Sacha Guitry, which collects four films (The Story of a Cheat, The Pearls of the Crown, Desire, Quadrille) by Sacha Guitry, and Abdellatif Kechiche's Secret of the Grain.
A tip...Barnes and Noble has all Criterion Collection films (including Blu-rays and box sets) on sale for half of retail price through the end of July.
The week's documentaries are highlighted by two music films. I Need That Record! The Death (or Possible Survival) of the Independent Record Store is an in-depth look at why indie record stores are a dying breed, and We Fun chronicles Atlanta's music scene.
