This Week's Interesting Music Releases - August 24, 2010
As summer ebbs and fall approaches, the music release lists get longer. This week brings the strongest batch of new releases since spring, perfect soundtracks for returning to school, driving to work, or planning a Labor Day barbecue.
Ra Ra Riot's sophomore album, The Orchard, is in stores tomorrow.
Sufjan Stevens surprisingly dropped a new digital EP this week, All Delighted People.
Comedian and actress Margaret Cho releases her debut music album, Cho Dependent, featuring guest appearances by Andrew Bird, Tegan and Sara, Fiona Apple, and others.
I can personally also strongly recommend Antony And The Johnsons' Thank You Your Love EP, Capstan Shafts' Revelation Skirts, Eels' Tomorrow Morning, Jon Langford & Skull Orchard's Old Devils, and Magic Kids' Memphis.
Three Slowdive albums (Just for a Day, Pygmalion, and Souvlaki) have been remastered and are all include a CD of bonus material.
Other reissues of note include two Tallest Man on Earth releases (the Shallow Grave album and The Tallest Man on Earth EP) and a couple of Efterklang repackages (Parades/Under Giant Trees and Tripper/Springer).
