This Week's Interesting DVD Releases - September 7, 2010
The big DVD releases this week are all television series. Supernatural: The Complete Fifth Season, The Office: Season Six, Chuck: The Complete Third Season, and Smallville: The Complete Ninth Season are just a few of the television seasons released tomorrow.
Playing for Time, one of the finest made-for-television films of all time (featuring a stunning performance by Vanessa Redgrave), is on store shelves tomorrow.
The two films I am most looking forward to this week are the Chinese drama The Photograph and the Balkan film I Am From Titov Veles.
More literary film fans will enjoy Charles Bukowski - The Last Straw, a video of the author's last poetry reading.
For music fans, 77 Boa Drum captures the Boredoms' epic 77 drummer, July 2007 Brooklyn performance on film. A Blu-ray edition of the Who's rock opera Tommy is also out this week.
The science fiction classic Forbidden Planet is out on Blu-ray this week as well as two classic Peanuts specials, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
