This Week's Interesting Music Releases - February 8th, 2011
Nicole Atkins' sophomore album Mondo Amore is in stores tomorrow and is already on my shortlist for albums of the year with another new release, Esben and the Witch's Violet Cries.
Akron/Family's S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT (out on CD and vinyl this week, after being available digitally for about a month) is highly recommended, as are Jessica Lea Mayfield's Tell Me, Over the Rhine's The Long Surrender (which includes a marvelous duet with Lucinda Williams), The Wailin' Jennys' Bright Morning Stars, and Young Galaxy's Shapeshifting (out digitally this week).
Vinyl discs from Sparklehorse (Good Morning Spider, Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot) and Spiritualized (Lazer Guided Melodies, Pure Phase) dominate the week's reissues, which also include a remastered edition of Thin Lizzy's 1976 album Jailbreak, complete with a CD of bonus tracks.
