39 Down, 13 To Go - "The Craft of Stone Brewing Co." (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

Two of my favorite things in life are cooking and beer. The Craft of Stone Brewing Co. is a book that elegantly combines both these activities.

The Craft of Stone Brewing Co. is a multifaceted book, combining homebrewing recipes for beer with food recipes (made with beer). Stone Brewing has always impressed me with its beer, indeed its Arrogant Bastard Ale is a personal favorite. I have only brewed my own beer once, years ago with middling results, but this book has inspired me to try again with its easy to follow directions and recipes for a variety of ales.

The food recipes are the true stars of this book. As an ingredient, beer often offers an interesting touch to food. Every one of these recipes I have cooked has wowed friends and family, from standards to truly eclectic concoctions. I especially recommend the blue cheese and jalapeno cheesecake, a savory dessert that has become a standard in our house.

My next book is Art Spiegelman's MetaMaus: A Look Inside a Modern Classic, Maus.
