41 Down, 11 To Go - "The Marriage Plot" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)
The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides is one of the year's most anticipated novels, especially by me. Eugenides is one of my favorite authors, and his previous books The Virgin Suicides and Middlesex are both works of fiction I respect and admire.
The Marriage Plot is the author's most ambitious and readable work yet. Focusing on three recent Brown graduates in 1982, Eugenides elegantly explores the nature of love and relationships in this wonderful combination of classical literature and postmodernism.
My next book is Erri de Luca's novel The Day Before Happiness.
