This Week's Interesting Music Releases - October 11th, 2011
Ryan Adams' Ashes & Fire and Bjork's Biophilia are the week's big music releases, and both are worthwhile additions to your music collection.
I can also strongly recommend Andrew Bird's soundtrack for the film Norman (which also contains contributions by Wolf Parade, Chad VanGaalen, and others), Future Islands' On the Water, Jeffrey Lewis's A Turn in the Dream-Songs, and John Wesley Harding's The Sound of His Own Voice.
Radiohead's remix release TKOL RMX 1234567 and William Shatner's collection of cover songs about space, Seeking Major Tom are also in stores tomorrow.
With the winter holidays sneaking up, box sets are becoming more frequent in the new releases, and this week's offerings include Ben Folds' The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective (3-CDs), John Fahey's Your Past Comes Back to Haunt You (The Fonotone Years 1958: 1965) (5-CD box set), and the massive The Smiths' Complete: Super Deluxe Collector's Box (25-discs of mixed CDs and vinyl).
The Jesus and Mary Chain remasters continue to appear, this week's albums are Munki and Stoned & Dethroned (both with bonus CDs and DVDs).
