This Week's Interesting Music Releases - October 18th, 2011
The Smiths Complete is a box set containing remastered editions of all eight albums released by the band, including the studio albums The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead, and Strangeways, Here We Come, the live album Rank, and the compilations Hatful Of Hollow, The World Won't Listen and Louder Than Bombs.
From what I have already heard, I can strongly recommend Gauntlet Hair's self-titled album, Kimya Dawson's Thunder Thighs, My Brightest Diamond's All Things Will Unwind, Pujol's Nasty, Brutish, and Short, and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin's Tape Club.
The Luz de Vida compilation benefits the victims of the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, and features music by Neko Case, Spoon, Robyn Hitchcock, and others.
Na Hawa Doumbia's La Grande Cantatrice Malienne Vol 3 is a reissued 1982 recording that marks the debut of the record label Awesome Tapes from Africa.
Tim Buckley's self-titled album has been remastered and includes a CD of bonus material.
Also remastered this week are three Supreme Dicks albums, Breathing and Not Breathing, The Emotional Plague (remastered), The Unexamined Life (remastered), and Workingman's Dick. This Is Not a Dick & Rarities, a rarities collection from the band, is also available.
