The A.V. Club Chicago interviews David Gedge of The Wedding Present about playing the band's 1991 album Seamonsters in its entirety on this tour.

AVC: Does it ever feel like you're in two bands at once, having all this new material from Valentina, but then also playing all of Seamonsters on the road?

DG: You’d think it would. But it doesn't, to be honest. The lineup we've got at the moment is a particularly super one for doing Seamonsters. In some ways, they're actually better players than we were then, so we can do it better justice. It is kind of a weird thing to do: having a tour and playing new songs, and then harping back to this 1991 one album. But it flows quite well. It’s just a break in the set. It may sound pretentious, but it’s almost one song in 10 parts. It's a 45-mintue epic, and then we go back to the other stuff. The sets are 80, 90 minutes long, so there’s time for it.

The shortlist for the 2012 Arthur C. Clarke Award for Science Fiction has been named.

Congratulations to Largehearted Boy Book Notes contributor Drew Magary.

The Morning Benders have changed the band's name to POP ETC.

Guernica interviews Nick Flynn about the film adaptation of his memoir.

Guernica: In terms of seeing yourself transformed into this character, was there strangeness in that?

Nick Flynn: I think for the purposes of movie, he's sort of reacting to the hardest moments from my life. I think Dano totally nailed it. Some people who know me think I’m a little funnier than that, which is okay with me (laughs).

I think from my interior perspective, he got it. I barely know how I appear to other people, but that’s how I appear to myself.

Astronautilus visits The Current studio for an interview and live performance.
