The Province interviews Polyphonic Spree frontman Tim DeLaughter.

Stuart Derdeyn: You've been on nine major labels and been dropped by all of them. How has this affected moving forward at this stage?

Tim DeLaughter: "Not having a major label behind you is liberating and taxing at the same time. Artistically the sky is the limit. Financially it is a bit different. In the old model of the music industry we would 'borrow' against future album sales to fund the shortfall of tours by taking tour support. Now we don't have that luxury to fall back on. We continue to be creative in finding finances. Even with major label support/funds, things have always been tight in the Spree. It is the nature of the beast."
