Atomic Books Comics Preview - September 26, 2012

In the weekly Atomic Books Comics Preview, Benn Ray highlights notable new comics and graphic novels.

Benn Ray is the owner of Atomic Books, an independent bookstore in Baltimore. The Mobtown Shank is his blog, and his comic Said What? is syndicated weekly in the Baltimore Sun's B-Paper.

Atomic Books has been named one of Bizarre Magazine's 51 geekiest places on the planet, as well as one of Flavorwire's 10 greatest comic and graphic novel stores in America.

Barbara
by Osamu Tezuka

Who is this strange woman Mikura found in the tunnels of Shinjuku Station? And what does she want? Is she a guardian angel, or something darker? It's a grittier Tezuka book, for mature readers.

Gasoline Alley Volume 1
by Dick Moores / Frank King

At long last, an important piece of comics history gets the deluxe, archival treatment. This volume begins with the start of Dick Moores' 20 year run, as strip creator Frank King hands over Gasoline Alley. Most of the strips here have never been printed since originally running in the papers.

The Infinite Wait and Other Stories
by Julia Wertz

A new book by Wertz is like getting a nice, long letter from a friend - but a very funny, witty letter. The Infinite Wait collects three graphic novellas dealing with Julia's work history, her hometown library and move from home and her dealing with being diagnosed with Lupus. All this, and french flaps too! Fancy!
