In the weekly Atomic Books Comics Preview, Benn Ray highlights notable new comics and graphic novels.
Atomic Books has been named one of Bizarre Magazine's 51 geekiest places on the planet, as well as one of Flavorwire's 10 greatest comic and graphic novel stores in America.
The Bojeffries Saga
by Alan Moore / Steve Parkhouse
This book collects Moore and Parkhouse's Bojeffries epic - sort of like a modern, experimental, British take on The Addams Family or The Munsters with a new story bringing them up to modern times.
Constantine Volume 1: Spark And The Flame
by Jeff Lemire / Ray Fawkes / Renato Guedes / Fabiano Neves
A number of fans of Vertigo's Hellblazer series were befuddled at DC's decision to fold the John Constantine character back into the DC Universe and end the long running horror comic. Some characters don't just mix well with superheroes, but that's part of the fun at reading this New 52 Constantine.
Insect Bath #1
It's a good ol-fashioned alternative comix anthology - stapled, on newsprint, in black and white, loaded with a number of wonderfully disturbing comics by some of the coolest cartoonists around - including Noel Freibert, Zach Hazard Vaupen, Sammy Harkham, Juliacks, Max Clotfelter, Eamon Espey, Matthew Thurber, Jason T. Miles and more.
