In the weekly Atomic Books Comics Preview, Benn Ray highlights notable new comics and graphic novels.
Benn Ray is the owner of Atomic Books, an independent bookstore in Baltimore. The Mobtown Shank is his blog, and his comic Said What? is syndicated weekly in the Baltimore Sun's B-Paper.

Julia decided to document some of her relationships from her time in Baltimore in the form of an intricate, delicate pop-up book. Her tone is as honest, personal and intimate as any personal zine you'd read - but then each relationship folds out into a 3D art scene. It's an amazing accomplishment.

Who doesn't love the work of James Jean? Some might say that it was Bill Willingham's writing that made the Vertigo series Fables such a hit that it was ripped off by two TV networks and spawned a really awesome video game series, but Jean's covers, which this book collects (in an updated, complete form), sure didn't hurt.
