Long Red Hair

Montreal-based comics artist Meags Fitzgerald brings us a graphic memoir of her childhood and adolescence, during which she discovers the mystique of sorcery, the strength of sisterhood, and her queer sexuality. Published by Conundrum Press. Launching at our store on September 23!
The Story of My Teeth
by Valeria Luiselli, translated by Christina MacSweeney
The Story of My Teeth (Coffee House Press) is the latest from novelist and essayist Valeria Luiselli (translated from the Spanish by Christina MacSweeney). Written in collaboration with the workers at a juice factory in Mexico City, this romp of a novel is narrated by yarn-spinning auctioneer Gustavo "Highway" Sánchez Sánchez, who collects the teeth of the "notorious infamous", including Plato and Virginia Woolf.
Trans: A Memoir
by Juliet Jacques
Jacques is known for her "Transgender Journey" column in the Guardian, in which she chronicled the gender reassignment process she was going through at the time. Here she writes about her experiences navigating the London publishing world as a trans woman, struggling within a liberal atmosphere in which trans people are regularly ignored, dismissed, and worse. Jacques entwines the personal and the political as she examines her own identity through art, film, music, politics and football. Published by Verso Books.
10 Artists to Listen to Before You Die

Conditions on the Ground

Illustrator and cartoonist Kevin Hooyman's comics are full of wiggly lines, shaky text, fog and cyclones, butts, and straight-up hilarity. This beauteous hardcover volume from Floating World Comics collects some of his classics, including Lay Bare My Brain, Baby Heart, Bagman, Storm Valley and Hot New Dance Moves (do not disregard these, seriously).
