Atomic Books Comics Preview - March 11, 2016

In the weekly Atomic Books Comics Preview, Benn Ray highlights notable new comics, graphic novels, and books.

Benn Ray is the owner of Atomic Books, an independent bookstore in Baltimore. He also runs the Mutant Funnies Tumblr.

Atomic Books has been named one of BuzzFeed's Great American Bookstores, as well as one of Flavorwire's 10 greatest comic and graphic novel stores in America.

Declaration Daddies #1

Declaration Daddies #1
by Sandra Gaybuns / Benjamin Spanklin / Daddy Sam

If the phrase "Founding Fathers" sends you into a dizzying, homoerotic fantasy, Declaration Daddies is for you. Warning: ADULTS ONLY!

Power Button #0

Power Button #0
by Zack Soto

Adatra finds herself transformed into an Omega Knight to fight off an alien invasion, and then placed in a pocket of unreality for storage and later use. It's the beginning of a new sci-fi epic, rich in pinks and purples.

Samurai #1

Samurai #1
by Jean-François Di / Frédéric Genet

In case the title wasn't enough of a clue, this is the first issue in a gorgeous, ongoing samurai series. Samurai is a beautiful sword-based, feudal Japan epic.

Tommy #1

Tommy #1
by John Ulloa / Al Bondiga / Juan Navarro

This issue marks the start of a depraved "cereal killer" series. Tommy is haunted by his evil rabbit who convinces him to do terrible things. Or is he? Is Tommy simply trapped in a rabbit-based Son of Sam scenario? Either way, Tommy is a deplorable, depraved and funky new series.

Woody Guthrie And The Dust Bowl Ballads

Woody Guthrie And The Dust Bowl Ballads
by Nick Hayes

One of America's most important folk-singers, Woody Guthrie gave us "This Land Is Your Land." Hayes' book never misses a note and delivers a rich and beautiful graphic biography of the legend.
