Atomic Books Comics Preview - May 13, 2016

In the weekly Atomic Books Comics Preview, Benn Ray highlights notable new comics, graphic novels, and books.

Benn Ray is the owner of Atomic Books, an independent bookstore in Baltimore. He also runs the Mutant Funnies Tumblr.

Atomic Books has been named one of BuzzFeed's Great American Bookstores, as well as one of Flavorwire's 10 greatest comic and graphic novel stores in America.

Archangel #1

Archangel #1
by William Gibson / Butch Guice

Sci-fi master and cyberpunk creator William Gibson comes to comics with this series. It's a world where humanity has destroyed its present but has created a way to find and destroy other worlds.

Disquiet

Disquiet
by Noah Van Sciver

Collecting a number of his comics short stories, Disquiet is funny, weird and dark. Disquiet is quintessential Van Sciver. It includes "Punks Vs. Lizards," easily one of the best comics stories of the past decade - it's Noah's guaranteed ticket into the Underground Cartoonists Hall Of Fame (if one existed).

Drawing Is Hard

Drawing Is Hard
by Adam Meuse

From the creator of the hit mini comic Sad Animals, this mini-comic deals with an artist trying to create work while also contending with a non-cooperative anthropomorphic brain and heart.

Esopus #23

Esopus #23

One of the biggest and best issue of this amazing arts journal yet. This issue is loaded with removable art inserts, Karl Ove Knausgaard, archival material from the Museum of Modern Art, George Cochrane's graphic novel Lost in Music and even a CD!

Tank Girl: 2 Girls 1 Tank #1

Tank Girl: 2 Girls 1 Tank #1
by Alan Martin / Brett Parson

Tank Girl is back! This comic begs the question, is the world big enough for two Tank Girls? While I say the more the merrier, Tank Girl may disagree.
