Atomic Books Comics Preview - November 6, 2016

In the weekly Atomic Books Comics Preview, Benn Ray highlights notable new comics, graphic novels, and books.

Benn Ray is the owner of Atomic Books, an independent bookstore in Baltimore. He also runs the Mutant Funnies Tumblr.

Atomic Books has been named one of BuzzFeed's Great American Bookstores, as well as one of Flavorwire's 10 greatest comic and graphic novel stores in America.

Aleister And Adolf

Aleister And Adolf
by Douglas Rushkoff / Michael Avon Oeming

Finally - a book where Aleister Crowley and Adolf Hitler team up to solve crimes! Okay, not really. These two favorite figures of many Satanists are at odds, and the evil, but less evil than Hitler, Crowley develops a new weapon against the Axis that might must be more dangerous than the Nazis.

Laid Waste

Laid Waste
by Julia Gfrörer

Gfrörer's new graphic novella is a beautifully lyrical tale of love set in a plague ravaged medieval town. Julia is one of my favorite artists, and after you see Laid Waste, I'm confident she'll be one of yours too.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali
by Sybille Titeux / Amazing Ameziane

An inspiring biography of The Greatest.

Queer: A Graphic History

Queer: A Graphic History
by Dr. Meg-John Barker / Julia Scheele

This graphic novel is basically a self-contained and utterly riveting seminar in gender theory, queer thought and LGBTQ+ action. This should be required reading for every student.
