Trump: The Complete Collection

Trump: The Complete Collection
by Harvey Kurtzman / various

I've been waiting for this collection to come out for years. It seems like an exceptionally cruel coincidence that a collection of a decades old humor magazine called "Trump" would come out now, as we are about put a man named Trump into the highest office in the land. If Harvey Kurtzman were still alive, I'm sure he'd be having a field day with that. A few years after the success of MAD Magazine, Kurtzman found himself courted by a number of publishers eager for him to recreate the magic of his humor magazine for them. He eventually went with then young upstart Playboy. Hugh Hefner brought Kurtzman on board and the result lasted two issues before it all imploded. This book provides those issues and elements of the "in-the-works" third issue as well as some history and insight as to what exactly happened that killed Trump before it ever really got started - the famous quote from Hefner, "I gave Harvey Kurtzman an unlimited budget ... and he exceeded it," notwithstanding.
