As Cool As I Am
Dar Williams talks to the Nashville City Paper about expanding her focus while remaining lyrically eloquent:
“My manager had been bringing his children home the music he liked, people like Bob Dylan, Neil Young and The Band,” Williams said. “They started turning him on to the people they liked, the jam bands, Soullive, and Martin, Medeski and Wood. He brought some of this music to me and said why don’t you consider bringing some of these people in on the record.” As a result, guests on The Beauty of the Rain include Medeski on keyboards, fiddler Michael Kang from the String Cheese Incident, banjo ace Bela Fleck, Dave Matthews band bassist Stefan Lessard and on the “The One Who Knows” and “Whispering Pines,” she’s joined by Alison Krauss.
