Da Capo Best Music Writing 2005 was edited by JT LeRoy, and like previous editions in the series, collects a batch of essays on music. The authors are diverse, including Camille Paglia and Dave Eggers along with the expected music critics (Christgau, Frere-Jones, Marcus). The collection is varied and like most compilations, uneven. Still, this is a worthwhile read for any music fan.
My next book is the recent National Book Award winner for non-fiction, The Year of Magical Thinking, by Joan Didion.
