3 Down, 49 To Go (52 Books,52 Weeks)
So many people have recommended Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close to me in the past year, that I had high expectations for Jonathan Safran Foer's novel. The book didn't disappoint. Foer intertwines the story of the precocious nine year-old Oskar unraveling his father's last mystery with the unbelievably sad story of his grandparents. Foer reminded me of a young Kurt Vonnegut with his playful typography and use of images in the novel, also with his combination of the tragic and the beautiful. This wonderful book made me search out Foer's first novel, Everything Is Illuminated, and add it to my growing "must read pile."
My next book is DEMO, by Brian Wood & Becky Cloonan.
