Reading Delisle's books is like sitting down with a good friend, listening to them recount their recent trip over a beer or two. His stories range from banal shopping trips to househunting to the government's handcuffing of humanitarian relief (Delisle's wife works for Doctors Without Borders), but never seem ordinary or preachy.
