48 Down, 4 To Go "The Burma Chronicles" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

Guy Delisle creates comic travelogues from a very personal perspective. In Pyongyang he visited North Korea, in Shenzhen, China. In The Burma Chronicles, Delisle accompanies his wife to Burma (Myanmar) with his infant child.

Reading Delisle's books is like sitting down with a good friend, listening to them recount their recent trip over a beer or two. His stories range from banal shopping trips to househunting to the government's handcuffing of humanitarian relief (Delisle's wife works for Doctors Without Borders), but never seem ordinary or preachy. His dry humor is never more than a page away, and the book offers the true spirit of Myanmar (through a visitor's eyes, at least).
