49 Down, 3 To Go "Omega the Unknown" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

Years ago gave up on superhero comics, finding them too often predictable and similar in their situations. When I heard that Jonathan Lethem would write the new Omega the Unknown series, I picked up the first issue (and continued to stop by my local comic shop on release days to feed my new habit).

Omega the Unknown collects the first 10 issues of this revamped Marvel series in ne book that reads more like a graphic novel than a comics collection. This truly bizarre story of a superhero raised by robots to fight off a robot invasion of earth. Lethem's story tackles bigger issues like alienation without ever losing the action-filled plot, while Farel Dalrymple's detailed artwork drives the storyline as much as the text.

My next book is Che: A Graphic Biography, by Spain Rodriguez.
