This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (April 20, 2010)
Avatar is the blockbuster DVD release this week, and it will be interesting how James Cameron's 3-D theater experience translates to the small screen.
Otner theatrical releases out this week on DVD include Jeff Bridges' Academy Award-winning performance in Crazy Heart, Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones (which adapts Alice sebold's novel of the same name), and Cloud 9, a critically-acclaimed German film.
Two new Criterion Collection films are in stores tomorrow, Olivier Assayas's Summer Hours and Jean-Luc Godard's Vivre sa vie.
Pressure Cooker is an interesting documentary about an inspirational Philadelphia high school teacher/chef that follows her class for a school year.
Several Batman movies are released this week on Blu-ray, as are The Basketball Diaries and Minority Report.
Television releases this week are mostly repackaged TV seasons, but I do plan to rent the first season of the BBC's Merlin.
