This Week's Interesting Music Releases (April 20, 2010)
I am not a Grateful Dead fan, but their live releases always impress me. Crimson, White & Indigo: July 7,1989, JFK Stadium, Philadelphia is no exception, a beautifully designed 3-CD and DVD box set that captures the concert in music, video, and text.
Other releases I can definitely recommend this week include The Apples in Stereo's Travellers in Space and Time, Caribou's Swim, Gotan Project's Tango 3.0, Plants and Animals' La La Land, and especially Horse Feathers' Thistled Spring.
Heading the week's reissues is a mammoth 6-LP vinyl edition of Magnetic Fields' classic album 69 Love Songs. Jesus & Mary Chain's Darklands and the 2-LP 10th anniversary edition of Modest Mouse's The Moon and Antarctica make this a great week for lovers of vinyl.
Merge reissues three Destroyer albums this week on CD, City of Daughters, Streethawk: A Seduction, and Thief.
