34 Down, 18 To Go "Dante's Divine Comedy: A Graphic Adaptation" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

One of the wonders of the graphic novel format is the diversity of subject matter. Graphic novels of fiction, non-fiction, biography, memoirs, and even classics are being published (and critically recognized) in increasing numbers every day.

Seymour Chwast takes on the huge task of adapting Dante's classic Divine Comedy in Dante's Divine Comedy: A Graphic Adaptation. In only 128 pages, Chwast illustrates Dante's tale with elegant and simple black and white drawings and a seemingly infinite amount of smart humor.

Dante's Divine Comedy: A Graphic Adaptation isn't a complete adaptation of Dante's classic, but it is a fascinating and innovative take on the book. Those familiar with the source text will especially enjoy the inside jokes and witticisms sprinkled throughout this enjoyable book.

My next book is Kate Christensen's novel Trouble.
