35 Down, 17 To Go "Trouble" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

I first fell in love with Kate Christensen's writing when I read her novel The Great Man.

Trouble is a captivating novel about female friendships, specifically a therapist who is best friends with a music star, with both at crossroads in their lives. This may sound like a standard beach read, but Christensen's lyrical prose and exceptional gifts for dialogue and character again amaze and create a gripping storyline.

Perhaps what I love most about Christensen's work is that I can share her books with friends who generally avoid read literary fiction, and they are almost always amazed at the richly drawn characters and involving plotlines.

Since reading The Great Man a couple of years ago I have devoured every book Christensen has published, and eagerly await her future work.

My next book is Emma Donoghue's novel Room.
