This Week's Interesting DVD Releases - October 19, 2010
Pee-Wee's Playhouse - The Complete Collection is in stores tomorrow, and includes all 45 episodes of the show plus Pee-Wee's Christmas Special.
Other television series out tomorrow include the classic The Bionic Woman: Season One and Tales From the Darkside: The Final Season.
Among the week's documentaries, I am most looking forward to watching The Other Side Of Immigration, The Sun Behind the Clouds: Tibet's Struggle for Freedom, and Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods, which profiles the legendary comics writer.
Charles Bukowski Box Set: One Tough Mother collects uncut video of the writer's last two readings along with a variety of other footage.
Among the week's music DVDs are Phish: Coral Sky (a 1996 live performance), Leonard Cohen's Lonesome Heroes (which explores the singer-songwriter and poet's inspirations), Until the Light Takes Us (a death metal documentary), and Bob Dylan - 1941-1966 Tales From A Golden Age (Special Edition)
The Criterion Collection releases Akira Kurosawa's classic film Seven Samurai on Blu-ray this week. Also out on Blu-ray format are the 50th anniversary edition of Psycho and the 35th anniversary edition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show
