16 Down, 36 To Go - "Bossypants" (52 Books, 52 Weeks)

I generally don't read books by celebrities, but the past couple of years have seen outstanding memoirs by Patti Smith, Kristin Hersh, and Rosanne Cash, so I decided to take a chance Tina Fey's book Bossypants. I am a great admirer of Fey's comedic talent, in fact 30 Rock is the only non-animated comedy series I regularly watch (the only animated series being Bob's Burgers).

Bossypants proves that Tina Fey is not only funny, but she can also write. Often hilarious, truthful, and touching in the same sentence, this book had me laughing more than any book I have read in years. Fey may be humorous, but she tackles big themes like women in the workforce and motherhood effectively and with a poignant grace.

Though I loved the book, I found myself wanting more introspection from Fey, but I can wait for that in a sequel...

My next book is Shaun Tan's graphic novel, The Arrival.
