This Week's Interesting DVD Releases - May 10th, 2011
One of my favorite films, Jonathan Demme's Something Wild, gets the Criterion Collection treatment this week.
Other theatrical highlights out on DVD this week include the romantic comedy No Strings Attached and the Middla Ages film Black Death.
Blu-ray releases include Blue Valentine and the Marilyn Monroe classic Some Like It Hot
Two politically themed documentaries look especially interesting, Bhutto, a film about Pakistani political dynasty, and Budrus, which covers Palestine non-violent resistance to the Israelis.
Music selections are slim this week, with only Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and AC/DC: Live At River Plate.
Home Improvement: 20th Anniversary Complete Collection is the week's television standout, if only for the toolcase-styled box that holds the 25-DVD collection. Other television DVDs in store tomorrow include two Doctor Who releases (Planet of the Spiders (Story 74) and Terror of the Autons (Story 55)), McMillan & Wife: Season 3, and Webster: Season Two
